What is the best way to use images to approach, illustrate, document and record the very writing that surrounds the images themselves? This site is built through an interface that attempts to privilege the visual as a navigational tool, a first point of call. When I write I’m concerned to approach media (whether they are images, objects, texts, sounds or noise) immediately, for this is my way to understand immersion within material structures, sounds, spaces and light. Immediacy determines the kinds of experiential engagements that propel me to write. In this website the 300 x 300 pixel square thumbnail performs a new role; a new context is formed and the object becomes a gathered interest, a fragment or a frequency snatched and thought and stored. Thanks and copyright lies with the artists whose works are present here, without their work my job as a writer and curator would be very quiet indeed.
